Russia has suspended the movement of cargo vehicles registered in Ukraine

Russia, in response to the blockade, banned Ukrainian trucks from moving on its territory.

The movement of freight vehicles registered in Ukraine has been suspended on the territory of Russia, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reports on Sunday, February 14, 2016.

According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, “Since February 11, 2016, on the territory of Ukraine, groups of people have been illegally blocking cargo vehicles of Russian road carriers carrying out transit travel between the territory of the Russian Federation and the states of the European Union through the territory of Ukraine.”

In different regions of Ukraine, more than 100 trucks remain blocked, more than 500 cannot enter the territory of Ukraine from the European Union states, returning to the Russian Federation.

As a response, Russia has suspended the movement of cargo vehicles registered in Ukraine through its territory, the ministry said.

“The effect of these measures will remain in effect until the Ukrainian side resolves the situation with the unlawful blocking of Russian cargo vehicles on the territory of Ukraine,” the message says.
