Belarus and Georgia have considered the possibility of cooperation within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili told reporters on Tuesday, March 22, following a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Andrey Kobyakov
“We considered the Silk Road initiative. In this regard, we have outlined ways to ensure a more active participation of Georgia and Belarus in this process. We also discussed other important issues, for example, how to use the favorable location of our countries in transport corridors,” said Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of economy and trade, investment, and agriculture.
Belarus offered Georgia to process Georgian food products for delivery to third countries.
“Taking into account the geographical position of Belarus in the center of Europe and its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, a promising direction is the creation in the country of cooperative industries for the processing of Georgian raw materials and semi-finished products with subsequent entry into the markets of both Belarus and third countries,” said the Prime Minister of Belarus. Belarus also offered its Georgian colleagues to involve Belarusians in the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the construction and repair of roads.
“Belarus is ready to take a comprehensive approach to participation in such projects, supplying trucks, road construction and municipal equipment for these purposes,” the head of the Belarusian government assured.
The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an agreement on the establishment of the Belarusian-Georgian Business Council.
