Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on measures to establish a special economic free trade zone in the Alyat village of the Garadagh district of Baku, including the territory of the new Baku International Sea Trade Port.

The order was signed in order to ensure sustainable development of the economy and increase competitiveness, strengthen Azerbaijan's position as a logistics and transport center, as well as create a multi-vector transport infrastructure in the country.

The Ministry of Economy, together with the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, was instructed to submit proposals to the President of Azerbaijan along with relevant information on the creation of a special economic zone such as a free trade zone in the Alat settlement of the Garadagh region of Baku, including the territory of the new Baku International Sea Trade Port, within six months.

In addition, the above departments were instructed, with the involvement of an international consultant, to improve the legislation on special economic zones, submit proposals to the head of state on the economic justification of the free trade zone, the concept of its development, infrastructure and management, as well as on the types of business activities that will be carried out on the territory of the zone. , and their features.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Committee for Property Affairs and the Executive Power of Baku were instructed to submit proposals to the head of state in connection with the territory of the zone, a list of owners of land plots and land users in this territory, information on the plan of the territory and an accurate representation of the territorial boundaries of the zone, the composition of lands , as well as information on the analysis of the economic, social and environmental situation, material and labor resources, the possibilities of providing communication and other infrastructure.

The Ministry of Finance was instructed to provide funding for the activities specified in the order within a month.
